Trappist Westvleteran 12
WWED Grade: A+

Appearance: Nice
thick head. Died eventually. Darker than the 8. Not molasses dark – but dark
and murky. Deep brown.
Smell: Not
terribly strong smell. Opens up towards the end. Kinda burnt raison. Brown
sugar, coffee and vanilla.
Taste: Delicious.
Coffee. Spicy bitterness on the finish. Hints of pepper. Wow – my last drink was my favorite. Kinda
sweet actually.
Drinkability: Very drinkable. Not as thick as I’d expected. But great. Not an
introductory beer. Many levels or flavor.
ABV: 10.2%
Serving Type: Bottle poured in goblet.
It’s just a great beer (if
you can get your hands on one). It’s very filling, but easy to drink
considering it’s high alcohol content. Many levels to this beer. And it changes
as you go. Coffee, nutty, sweet, musky. Started good and became great! The last
drink was definitely my favorite. Bitter sweet in the sense that it was the end
of my beer. Unexpected, but pleasantly sweet in flavor. This was a great beer.
Among my favorite on the list so far…
