Sam Adams Chocolate Bock

Appearance: Nice – thick/creamy head. Dark Mahagony. Clear.

Smell: Musky. Some Chocolate.

Taste: Great ‘Bock’ flavor! Not very bitter nor hoppy. Notes of chocolate and coffee. I enjoyed this beer.

Drinkability: Very easy to drink. So do it while you can!

ABV: 5.6%

Serving Type: Bottle poured in Glass.

Well – by the looks of it this ought to be a great beer. All in all – I’d say they pulled it off. But it was definitely not what I’d expected. I hear “chocolate” and “bock” and I’m thinkin’ it’s gonna be thick and dark. It was definitely dark – and produced some nice head on the pour. But it was much thinner and lighter (in consistency and body – not color) than I’d expected. The chocolate flavors were great – I suggest drinking this with some small nibbles of dark chocolate to further enhance the experience. This beer is released every 2 years – so get it while you can. But if you miss it on this go round – it’s not the end of the world.
